What this shop is set up to do

  • Milling

    3-axis and 4-axis

    Three-axis work plus indexed positioning on a rotary table. Multi-sided parts get machined in one setup instead of three, which keeps feature-to-feature position honest.

  • Materials

    Aluminum and steels

    6061 and 7075 are most of what goes on the machines, so the tooling and workholding stay dialed in for them. Stainless and mild steel run regularly too. Material is bought to the print with certifications on file.

  • Volume

    One-off to five hundred

    Prototypes, first articles, bridge production and repeat lots up to about five hundred pieces. Quantity one is a normal order here.

  • Setups

    Zero-point workholding

    Lang Makro-Grip and Quick-Point let a fixture come off and go back on to a known position. Changeovers take minutes, so short runs and repeat jobs both stay affordable.

  • Probing

    Probing on every machine

    Work offsets are found, not dialed in by eye. Critical features get checked in-cycle, so a problem shows up while the part is still on the table.

  • Finishing

    Bead blast and marking

    Glass bead blasting and part marking are done here. Anodize to MIL-A-8625 and powder coat go to local finishers, including expedited turnaround.

We run SolidWorks and Fusion, so file format is not a problem.

Native files, neutral files, a 2D drawing, a marked-up PDF, a scanned print off the shop floor. Between our two software suites we can open essentially any 3D model or 2D drawing you are likely to have, and convert it if a downstream step needs something else.

If all you have is a sketch and a sample part, send that.

Steels are well within reach.

Most of our work is 6061 and 7075. Running primarily aluminum means the tooling, sourcing and workholding are all dialed in for it. This is how we keep short runs affordable.

How a job runs

From file to delivery

  1. Quote

    Send a model and a drawing. You get a price and a date, plus a note on anything in the print that adds cost without adding function.

  2. Program and set up

    CAM, fixturing and workholding are planned around the datum scheme on your drawing, so the part is held the way it is dimensioned.

  3. Machine and probe

    Parts run with in-cycle probing on critical features. Drift is caught on the machine, not at final inspection.

  4. Inspect and ship

    Dimensions are recorded against a ballooned drawing in a report that ships with the parts. DFW deliveries go by hand the same day.

Turnaround

Lead times and delivery

Lead time depends on material, finishing and production schedule, so it gets quoted per job rather than promised in the abstract. Expedited work is normal here and gets priced, not refused.

Anywhere inside Dallas–Fort Worth, finished parts can be hand delivered the same day they come off the machine.
